Salad Turnips

Salad Turnips are exceptional fresh eating turnips with a crisp, sweet flavor. Mostly grown in the early spring, they are one of the first treats out of the hoop houses. As we edge into the warmer months the flavor takes on the bite of a radish and are delicious slow roasted of halved and thrown on a grill. The greens on these early turnips are delicate and are packed with nutrition.

Always remove greens when storing root vegetables and store in separate container. This stops the plant from wanting to continue to “grow” and cause wilted roots and bitter tops.
