About Our Organic Wisconsin Farm

Our Sustainable Organic Farm

We are Stacey and Tenzin Botsford, first generation farmers dedicated to the idea that caring for the land and growing high quality organic food can be mutually beneficial for the farm, the farmers, and the community. We would like to regain our relationship to the land and to the food that we eat while helping to revitalize small farms in Central Wisconsin.

Before farming, we spent 10 years working as professional river guides in several countries around the world. During this time we saw many different ways to live and noticed that the happiest people lived close to the land and were engaged with their communities. They worked hard, took pride in what they did, and prioritized their families. We decided to be farmers because we want to be connected to our community, be proud of the work that we do, and create a healthy, happy place for our family, our employees and their families, and our community. We are also worried about the toll that industrial scale agriculture is taking on our environment, our economy, and our health, and we are committed to being part of the solution.

 Meet the Team

Red Door Family Farm couldn’t exist without the helping hands of our dedicated and delightful long-term employees.

Tenzin Botsford

Tenzin Botsford

Owner, Fertility Management, Field Prep, & Cultivation

As written by farm kid Iris: “Daddy is a very hard-working Daddy. He works very hard to make us all healthy and happy. He loves to cook and he’s the worm master. He loves to drive the tractor and play with me and Leona. His favorite color is red and he’s great at ice skating. He’s a loving and caring Daddy and we love him.”

Stacey Botsford

Owner, Daily Operations, Staff Management, Marketing, & Sales

As written by farm kid Leona: “Mom is a very loving, caring and kind person. She is hardworking and a very fun person to know. She likes many things such as art, reading, and caring for loved ones. I’m not sure how, but she always seems to be right about things and I think that something that she was definitely right about was creating a farm with dad that would not help just them, but help their entire community. We all love Mom. She's the best mom I know.”

Sarah Babcock

Packshed Manager

Sarah is in her first year as the packshed manager. This is an integral part of the farm, but with her experience in the food industry, her commitment to the community, and her willingness to learn and grow, we think it will be a perfect fit. Nearly everything that is grown on our farm passes through her hands before it heads out into the world. She is a mastermind in the coolers, organizes, prioritizes, washes, and bosses in the packshed to keep the Red Door produce looking the as good as it does.

Ethan Koch

Ethan Koch

Field Manager & Irrigation Specialist

Ethan will be starting his 8th season at the farm this year. It’s safe to say that there is no Red Door without Ethan!

He might be a familiar face at the Farmers Market of Wausau, but his main role on the farm is more on the production side (with his powerhouse teammate Alex). He focuses on planting, cultivating, and harvesting but is also working with Tenzin, specializing in irrigation and fertility.

Alex Spaulding

Field Manager & Market Manager

This will be Alex’s 8th year at the farm and we are all pretty sure that there is no Red Door without Alex! Many of you will remember her if you shop at the Farmer’s Market of Wausau, but on the farm she is managing everything on the production side. She is leading the charge on planning, planting, cultivating, and harvest… aka making a seed into a food. Partnered with Ethan, this dynamic duo have become the backbone of our farm.

Farm Kids Lilah, Leona, & Iris

Happiness & Laughter Ambassadors

The farm kids are getting ready to put in some real work on the farm this year! That’s right, these kids are on the schedule and will be busy with a lot of bin washing and bagging of salad mix (as well as many many other tasks). You might even see them at the Farmer’s Market! The lineup: Lilah age 14, Leona age 13, and
Iris age 10.

Farm Dogs Tilly & Leila

Steer Fear Into the Deer & Snuggles

Tilly is black and white. She’s a good girl who loves to harvest and eat corn on the cob and watermelons, and hates gunfire and fireworks.

Leila, Alex’s dog, is all black (with a little gray on her snoot, but we don’t talk about that). She is also a good girl who loves really big bones that she gets all to herself. If any dog on the farm is going to catch a rabbit (preferred) it will be Leila.

Farm Cats Daisy, Kimchi, and Eugene

Rodent Management & Snuggles

Daisy is serious business. We’d pick her first in kickball.

Kimchi is cute but worthless when hunting. She leans hard on the kibble.

Eugene is the most handsome of the cats and handles hoophouses 3 and 4 for mice. He pays his rent in rodent management.
